Day 1 - Start of the MONTH!

Day 1 - omg...... it was.... HOT

Okay so us here in Washington think THIS above is hot, especially when it is humid from all the rain we get. So around 5PM, it was hot. BUT I was determined to at least start the challenge. Wouldn't that have been funny if I totally skipped Day 1? Nah - haha I went for it.

Here is me - PRE-RUN. Happy, showing my "It's Friday!" smile and knowing that once this is over I get to go shopping and out to dinner with my lovely mother and my bro's GF.

And then it started. All I could think about 0.5 miles in was, "Am I even breathing?" All I could taste was hot air and I felt like I hadn't done this in forever. I could feel the non-existant extra 200lbs on my body and felt like all the water I hydrated with today was gone. I searched for shade but this new route I was on offered very little. New neighborhoods sprout baby trees - they give NO shade. However, this guy below was able to help me out around mile one.

And that was it. Made it home. Ran/walked around 1.65 miles. Conflicted - since I am used to 5k routes. But patted myself on the back for even daring to try. Trying to jog past the houses - hearing AC units humming and seeing them sipping lemonade.... oh goodness I was happy to get this day over.

And so ends Day 1. Tomorrow, it is either an early morning or late evening run for me.
Got to BEAT THIS HEAT.
